Liverpool Film Festival is pleased to announce the line-up for the second annual festival. Taking place at the state-of-the-art Odeon Liverpool One over the weekend of the 12th-14th October the festival will open with a screening of documentary film LADDIE: THE MAN BEHIND THE MOVIES. Laddie sees Amanda-Ladd Jones embark on a journey to better understand her father, Alan Ladd Jr, the producer of such landmark films as STAR WARS, ALIEN, BLADE RUNNER, BRAVEHEART and a staggering 154 more. With big names such as Morgan Freeman, Ben Affleck and George Lucas providing insight the film offers a unique look at the world of Hollywood. Opening night will also include the short film Being Keegan, which stars Liverpool’s own Stephen Graham as a tormented naval officer returning to the city to face his past.
LIVIFF2018 will then continue at ODEON ONE through the weekend with an exciting mix of narrative feature and short films, feature and short documentaries, experimental and student and music videos. Highlights include THE BRIGHTON KOP, a short documentary about a Brighton based Liverpool Supporters club, feature film THE MILAN PROTOCOL which tells the story of a German doctor who is kidnapped in Syria and short film IT’S A MESS, which stars Vincent D’Onofrio of Full Metal Jacket fame as a homeless man who helps two sisters with a dark secret get through a New York city night.
After the success of LIVIFF2017 the festival is expanding to two screens with more filmmakers expected to attend and take part in post screening Q&A’s. The move to the Odeon also sees the festival set up shop right in the heart of the city and bringing audiences closer to the films, filmmakers and industry professionals.
Director of operations Neil Jeram-Croft says ‘we couldn’t be happier to bring Liverpool Film Festival to the heart of the city, our line-up this year is a brilliant, eclectic mix of independent film. We can’t wait to share these films with the people of Liverpool.’
